No work/school phone numbers or email addresses will be accepted.Elections Timeline October 18, 2023 - Nominations open November 17, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. CST - Nominations close Notice of Elections sent to all members - Candidates announced December 15, 2023 - Open Elections - Voting done by EZVote January 4, 2024 - Closing Elections - Voting closes at 5:00 PM CST January 5, 2024 - Ballots tabulated and results announced by the Election Committee If any objections and challenges are received during the 7 day period, the Election Committee has 10 days from receipt of the objection or challenge to respond. January 12, 2024 - Close of objections and challenge period to initial election results January 22, 2024 - End of Initial Election Objection Response Period January 22, 2024 - LCFT Constitution requires convention delegates to be elected six months prior to convention January 29, 2024 - Open Runoff Election February 18, 2024 - Runoff Election Conclusion February 19, 2024 - Ballots tabulated and results announced by the Election Committee February 26, 2024 - Close of objections and challenge period to initial election results If any objections and challenges are received during the 7 day period, the Election Committee has 10 days from receipt of the objection or challenge to respond. March 7, 2024 - End of Election Objection Response Period July 22, 2024 - AFT Convention, Houston, TX Election RulesThe 2023 LCFT Convention Delegate Election will be done by EZVote. All members in good standing per Article III Section 5 will be emailed a ballot at their last known email address on December 15, 2023. If you believe you did not receive a ballot, you may obtain one by going to the Union Hall on or before election day, and cast a provisional ballot in person. All ballots received by 5:00 p.m. CST on January 4, 2024, will be considered cast on time. Should an election provided for in the Constitution and Bylaws be uncontested, the nominees shall be considered elected by acclamation and no balloting shall be conducted. NominationsConstitution and Bylaws Article VI Section 4 sets out the requirements to be eligible to run for office. Only members may nominate an individual, whether yourself or someone else, for an office. Nominations shall be emailed to local504elections@gmail.com or are due in the LCFT office no later than 3:00 p.m. CST or by email by 5:00 p.m. CST November 17, 2023. You can submit this nomination in person, via US mail, or via email local504elections@gmail.com. You will receive confirmation that your nomination was received. There will be no provision for write-in candidates on the ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor.
